Coaching Pathways at Bulimba Cricket Club
The club offers entry into coaching roles through our newly developed Coaching Pathways, which utilises the existing Cricket Coaches Australia curriculum.
Senior players are provided the opportunity to move from a playing only role into a player / coach role, providing huge benefits not only to the player's game, but also back to the club. This pathway allows both the club and its senior players to support the new and upcoming generation of players.
For all players we provide entry into coaching through our Cricket Blast program, via participation as a Blast Crew member. This provides valuable hands-on experience through working with our youngest players and assisting them to secure the fundamentals of cricket. The Cricket Blast program allows for movement up to the Blast Coordinator role, which provides the opportunity to run either of the Master or Junior Cricket Blast programs.
Adults taking on the role of coach for under 9’s and up, must complete the Cricket Coaches Australia Level 0 Introduction to Cricket module. Following on from this, they progress through to the Level 1 Community Coach Accreditation. This is a free course, with course material being largely online, followed by a face-to-face training session with Queensland Cricket. The club works with Queensland Cricket to run this part of the training, which is held at the club ground.
Future coaching opportunities are available once a Level 1 Accreditation is received – a Level 3 High Performance Accreditation could be just around the corner!
The club expects all team coaches to attain a Level 1 Accreditation and we encourage all managers to also undertake the training.
Note – The Member Protection Policy of Bulimba Cricket Club states that all coaches are to possess a current Blue Card.
